Reaching Potentials
Problem Behavioral reduction
Problem behavior is often demonstrated with children diagnosed with ASD. We specialize in reducing these problem behaviors. During the assessment process we identify the factors that are causing these problem behaviors. During treatment we focus on interventions to systematically reduce troublesome behavior. Targeted behaviors include but are not limited to aggression, self-injury, tantrums, non-compliance, picky eating, hyperactivity, and repetitive behaviors.
ABA Therapy Assessment
The functional assessment process is paramount to a successful intervention. This assessment will determine the variables that are responsible for maintaining the problem behavior. With the result of the assessment we can identify the appropriate treatment protocols to address the behaviors of concern and increase skill acquisition.
Skill acquisition
As we reduce problem behaviors, we equip our kiddos with replacement skills. To have meaningful long-term success teaching alternate skills to replace problem behavior is a vital component of the intervention. We develop programs which focus on building up skills. Replacement skills include functional communication training, tolerance training, coping skills, on-task behaviors, compliance, and food tolerance among many others skills.
Social skills
Teaching social skills using ABA can be done in a variety of ways. Maintaining eye contact, initiating conversations, emotional regulation, taking turns, rule following, identifying and understanding social cues are just several ways ABA can target social skills. We develop our programs targeting specific areas to ensure our kiddos thrive.
Communication skills
A common challenge of a child with ASD, is the inability to effectively communicate wants, needs, understand basic demands and converse with others. Via ABA techniques we will target your child’s expressive and receptive language abilities. An individualized treatment plan will be developed targeting your child’s language deficits. Our program will combine your child’s motivation and interest with proven ABA techniques to enhance their language skills. We specialized in functional communication training and Picture Exchange Systems. Moreover, we happily collaborate with speech pathologists to reach the best outcomes.
Daily living skills
We also specialize in teaching independence via daily living skills. We use the same ABA principles that are used to teach language and reduce problem behavior to teach how to gain independence and improve quality of life. We apply these principles to teach dressing, feeding, hand-washing, toilet training, safety skills, stranger awareness and overall self-care activities.
School consultations
As part of our integrated approach we collaborate with schools to ensure our client’s skills are transferring in various settings. Our Board Certified Analysts support parents during Individualized Education Plan (IEP) schools meetings. We are proud to consult with private and public schools throughout the regions we serve. Utilizing the principles of ABA, we assist schools with their behavior management needs.
Parent support
We understand the process can be overwhelming for families. From the moment we start services, you can be assured that we are by your side through this process. That is why we deliver bi-weekly parent training where families will be equipped with the ABA interventions we utilized to reduce behaviors and teach new skills.
